Repair a PDF — Fix a Corrupt or Damaged File

Recover a PDF that won't open by rebuilding it in your browser. Free, no uploads, no sign-up.

Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Does a PDF reader refuse to open your file, calling it corrupt or damaged? This tool tries to rebuild it in your browser — losslessly first, keeping your text, and if that isn't possible, from rendered page images. Your file is never uploaded.

Who uses the repair tool

  • A PDF that shows a "corrupt" or "failed to open" message.
  • A file that downloaded or transferred incompletely and won't open.
  • A document that only one app can open, when you need a copy that works everywhere.

Repair a PDF in 3 steps

  • 1. Upload your damaged PDF.
  • 2. Press the repair button.
  • 3. Download the rebuilt copy.

Frequently asked questions

Will the text stay selectable?

When possible, yes. If only the file's structure is broken, it's re-saved losslessly with your vector text intact. If the file is badly damaged, it's rebuilt from page images — still readable, but without selectable text.

Can every file be repaired?

No. If a file is damaged so badly it can't be read at all, it can't be recovered. Always try to keep a known-good original.

Is my file uploaded?

No — the repair happens locally in your browser; the file is never sent to any server.
