How to Convert PDF Pages to Images

June 28, 2026 · 3 min read

Converting PDF pages to images is useful in many situations. You might need to include a page from a report in a presentation, share a document preview on social media, embed a page in a website, or simply create a visual archive of an important document. Whatever the reason, turning a PDF page into a PNG or JPEG image is a straightforward process.

Why convert PDF to images?

PDFs are great for preserving document layout, but images are more versatile in certain contexts:

  • Presentations: Inserting a PDF page into a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation is easier when it is an image. You can position and resize it like any other graphic.
  • Social media: Most social platforms accept images but not PDFs. Converting a page to an image lets you share it directly on Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn.
  • Web content: Embedding an image in a website or blog post is simpler than embedding a PDF viewer. Images load faster and display consistently across all browsers.
  • Messaging: Sending a quick image via WhatsApp, Slack, or text message is often more convenient than attaching a PDF file.
  • Archiving: Images can serve as visual snapshots of document pages, useful for quick reference without opening a PDF reader.

How to convert PDF pages to images with techyworks

  • Step 1 — Open the PDF: Go to techyworks.online and load the PDF you want to convert.
  • Step 2 — Open the conversion tool: Click the "PDF to Images" option in the toolbar.
  • Step 3 — Select pages: Choose which pages to convert — you can select all pages or pick specific ones.
  • Step 4 — Export: Click the export button. Each selected page is rendered as a high-quality PNG image and downloaded to your device.

PNG vs. JPEG: which format to choose

The two most common image formats for PDF conversion are PNG and JPEG, and each has its strengths:

  • PNG is a lossless format — it preserves every detail of the original page without compression artifacts. It produces larger files but is ideal for documents with text, diagrams, and sharp lines where clarity is important.
  • JPEG is a lossy format — it compresses the image by discarding some detail, resulting in smaller file sizes. It works well for pages that are mostly photographs or images where minor quality loss is acceptable.

For most document-to-image conversions, PNG is the better choice because it keeps text sharp and readable. Use JPEG only when you need the smallest possible file size and the page content is primarily photographic.

Image resolution and quality

The quality of the converted image depends on the rendering resolution. Higher resolutions produce sharper, more detailed images but result in larger file sizes. For on-screen viewing and web use, 150 DPI (dots per inch) is usually sufficient. For printing, 300 DPI or higher is recommended.

techyworks renders pages at a resolution suitable for high-quality on-screen viewing. The resulting images are sharp enough for presentations, social media, and web content. If you need print-quality resolution, consider adjusting your browser's zoom level before exporting.

Batch conversion

If you have a multi-page document and need every page as a separate image, techyworks can export all pages at once. This is much faster than converting pages one at a time, and the files are named sequentially so they stay in order. Batch conversion is particularly useful for creating image-based archives of long documents or preparing page images for a slide deck.
